Why an NDA ?
Why and when to sign an NDA ?
The NDA issue does reflect a certain requirement for business acumen . If you do not know who to trust and what to share and what not to share then you are lost at the starting gate. LinkedIn Groups, Go Big Network or other groups themselves will not fund anyone. Financing will naturally flow to either a team or someone who can organize a team (redundancy) while showing the value or utility of their widget. For this you should not need an NDA unless you may have to share a process or other than could disqualify a patent at a later date. An entrepreneur needs to show that they have a widget that can create a cash flow realistically supporting an investment. Anything less would amount to having to show a contracted exit and then you fall into a trade or one off transaction. Venture capital requires someone who can write their own business plan because they know what to write . They need to be a preacher of their own call. They need to inspire confidence and trust and most of all integrity. Without these, investments are made however with conditions that will bite back the less qualified when their colors show. If you are for real, internet groups and business social network services specifically will not be the reason you get money any more than a phone will get you funded. It is a tool for establishing relationships but the value of the trust will be yours to demonstrate. With all this in mind , an NDA is signed to protect those that have something to protect but it can also provide a dangerous tool to the disingenuous. Be careful and measure all your decisions carefully.
